5 Tips to Improve the SEO of a Site

Often, companies that have developed a website more than 2 years ago (or who have done it internally or who have used a medium quality website generator like Wix, 1and1 Builder), find themselves with a site that does not appear in the top positions in Google results.

This may seem clear, but the best way to improve Google’s ranking is simply to write more writing (with 1 page of text for 1 phrase to position itself on) and publish new content more often.

The principle is that the more pages you have optimized for each one, the more you’ll be visible.

If you understand 20 more pages on 20 expressions, you can be visible on 5 to 10 more keywords, so have more traffic.

Indeed a significant standard to be well placed on Google is important content and regularly updated.

Each page must be made and optimized specifically for 1 expression/keyword: in the name of the HTML file of the page, in the title of the page, in the size of the characters (H1, H2 …), in the enhancement.

2 – Review the hierarchy of the site

Google analyzes websites rendering to an algorithm. And so the more this study will be easy and logical, the more your site will be well analyzed by Google.

The logic is that if we have an important theme, it follows that many pages of this site must speak about this theme.

And still being logical, the more pages on a theme, the more the page at the origin of these pages “girls” on this particular theme will be relevant to the same theme.

Indeed Google believes that the more a page is “high” in the structure of the site, the more important it is. Which is “logical” insofar as logically we start from the most important to the least important (and therefore from the most synthetic to the most full).

This is why Google will assign a better “rating” to pages put first on a site, and instead will consider the pages “far” (= it must go through 1 or 2 pages to get there) in navigation as less important.

In practice, just put a page “Sitemap” directly on the home page, and link to this page the subpages most important to you (be careful to make a maximum of 100 links, and also less there is a the better. putting 20 to 30 would be a good average ).

4- Optimize the titles and the tags of the pages

The name of the HTML file: it is necessary that the name of the file wants to say something and that it contains the keywords characterizing it. Do not name his page “product1-blue.htm” but rather “cream-day-lavender.htm.”

The title of the page: the Heading tag must be single for each page (between 2 and 10 words, and less than 90 characters!). Recall that you must write titles for readers (and not for Google) and that sentences of more than 10 words in actual life are uncommon, so do the same with your page titles!

Note that if the words from/to / … do not count in words, but they count in the number of appeals. Of course, to simplify the work of Google, we must put the title tag as high as possible (below the HEAD tag).

Contend / keywords tags: put only a few keywords, even if they are less important in the ranking by Google. It does not take many periods, and it’s always better to have consistency throughout the HTML page.

5- Get links (backlinks) from relevant and influential sites

The first thing to recollect is that getting links from manual sites or sites unrelated to your business is a waste of time. You will be exhausted for sites with little traffic or links that are rated as unimportant in Google.

So you need to focus on the influential sites (and possibly the influential sites in your area of activity).

This can go through an estimate in the most powerful Blogs, have a link on the sites of its partners and customers.

But beware, it should be remembered that a webmaster has no interest in exchanging links: the hyperlink exchange is penalized by Google, and also that a reciprocal link has much less value in the eyes of Google than a unidirectional coupling (= a site links to you, but you do not do anything).
